Arrived to a beautiful anchorage with the main sheet in dangerous condition. Two shackles had parted where they meet the boom, and if they had gone we would have lost control of the boom. I had reviewed the decks before and found a broken cotter pin and alerted us to review our blocks, shackles, and turnbuckles. Jen spotted this. Super dangerous. As in: All Stop on sailing, dangerous. We anchored in Ensenada de los Muertos (Cove of the Dead) or Bahia de los Suenos (Bay of Dreams), and then the first task was to fix it.

This is a super nice spot. And we saw a Greater Road Runner in the restaurant parking lot!

Greater Roadrunner. The Greater Roadrunner is one of the only creatures known to cooperatively hunt rattlesnakes. One will distract the snake, while the other one sneaks up behind it and bashes its head in. Birds!
