Sailing Back to Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico

After more than a month in the Barra de Navidad/Tenacatita area, the time came to embark on our return north to Banderas Bay.  Jen's sister and her fiancé were flying in to visit us there.  We had a good two weeks before they arrived, so we sailed at our own pace, and more importantly, picked our weather window to round Cabo Corrientes.

After a great day sailing with a dolphin-pod escort, we anchored for a few nights off the town of Perula.  This gave us a chance to take our dinghy to the nearby islands of Isla Pajarera and Isla Cocinas, which we had agreed to return to after our short stop here coming south.   Several beautiful, secluded beaches make this a great stop.

We enjoyed the town of Perula, taking the dinghy through it's narrow breakwater entrance and tying up to a dock at a newly constructed malecon, where American Oystercatchers plied along shore.  After our short stay, we timed a nice weather window, set sail north, and rounded Cabo Corrientes without any trouble or rough conditions.

We provisioned fresh vegetables and fruits at the local markets.

A little blurry (it's not your eyes!).  American Oystercatcher.
